Hi, I’m Colton. I’m a first generation farmer, born and raised in Charles County, and farming has always felt like the work I was meant to do. It connects me back to the land, the community and the people I feed. I studied Plant Science at the University of Maryland, which gave me a solid foundation in soil, plants, and sustainable growing practices. Before focusing full-time on farming, I ran an eco-friendly landscaping business, focused on building soil, supporting pollinators, and caring for the ecology around us all.

I run Simpson’s Market Garden with a philosophy inspired by people like Wendell Berry, believing our purpose is greatest when we’re close to both the source and the end, planting seeds and seeing them nourish the same community. Everything is grown naturally, worked mostly by hand, and kept small scale and intentional.

Beyond growing food, I’m passionate about building a strong and resilient local food system, which our area is in desperate need of. I want to promote transparency in agriculture and help people understand where their food really comes from. My hope is to feed people healthy, clean and quality food, and to connect them to where it actually came from.
